Wally's Cocktail Combo!
Wally's Cocktail Combo is a pared down version of Wally's Swing World that Wally uses at certain nightclubs and private events to accommodate the diverse needs of clients and audiences. The Combo is a four or five piece band featuring Wally on vocals and guitar. He is backed by upright bass, drums, and piano and/or sax. The band is based in Santa Cruz, California and travels throughout the state. The smaller band offers Wally the opportunity to branch out musically into 50s rockabilly and jump swing, guitar twang 60s surf rock, neo ultra lounge, Latin jazz, samba and salsa, while still maintaining his usual solid repertoire of cool "Rat Pack" swing. The group has many loyal fans and, therefore, many regular engagements. The band appears monthly at Severino's in Aptos, the San Jose Fairmont Hotel, and at Gordon Biersch and Agenda restaurants in San Jose. The Combo is ideal for elegant formal events or "dress down" casual parties. They play danceable music with an intimate sound that is suitable for small rooms and lounges as well as larger venues; intimate gatherings as well as grand celebrations.
